Having burst onto our screens for the first time last year, teaching that there is no adventure too big and no pup too small, the Paw Patrol delighted children and their parents, and this summer their amazing activities are back again. From fighting fire and rescuing monkeys to aiding baby owls, the Paw Patrol is always on guard in Adventure Bay. Marshall, a clumsy firefighting pup, is all action, but combined with Chase – the leading police pup – they make the perfect duo to tackle any problem – as long as it does not involve cats or feathers, because Chase is horribly allergic!

No matter how big the task, the fun-loving friends will always have smile on their faces. But have they finally met an obstacle they cannot overcome? When Ryder goes on a hike along Big View Trail he gets into trouble – will he be able to rally the troops in time?

Needless to say both boys enjoyed watching the DVD and will love watching it over and over ,

Bobux Xplorer Shoe Review

bobuxHere at Baby-A we were kindly sent some beautiful shoes from Bobux New Zealand to review. Bobux a New Zealand company…

Bobux began with Chris and Colleen’s quest in 1991 to find a soft flexible shoe that would stay on the feet of their 9 month old daughter, Chloe. At the time, the only offering was hard-soled shoes, that Chloe would not wear. The first Bobux shoe was created using soft leather and suede and included elastic around the ankle to ensure the shoe actually stayed on and allowed Chloe’s feet to develop naturally. That was it – the first Bobux Soft Sole was born!”
The shoes come from their new Xplorer range designed for first walkers.  On opening we found the shoes to be lovely and soft with a funky, bright design. There are 9 colours and 3 styles in the Xplorer shoe range. We opted for the lime green as we like the striking colour. The shoes were different to any other cruiser type shoe we had seen before and had the added benefit of being soft enough for inside but durable enough for outdoor use.

Xplorer shoes from Bobux Ronnie was very excited on opening the shoes and we found that the elasticated heel and small velcro strap proved to be very useful in actually putting the shoe on with ease. It’s always a bit of a mission to put shoes on a wriggling toddler’s feet but these were great!! Made with 100% leather with a flexible sole and no seams to rub on the foot. All of these elements added up to an amazing first shoe. The shoes were a perfect fit as we had used the Bobux Fit Wizard on their website. They were certainly a hit with Ronnie, so much so he was hard to catch. He instantly started running in them as they seemed to add an air of confidence to his newly found skill of walking. ronshoe Thank you Bobux for giving us the pleasure of testing these simple yet ingenious designed shoes, it is nice now to have a broader choice of shoes to choose from for our every growing toddler boy!! We would definitely recommend the Bobux Xplorer shoes.

If you would like to see the full Xplorer range look on the Bobux website bobux.co.uk  You can follow on Twitter  and on Facebook

Grobag Baby Sleeping Bag Review

We were delighted to be selected to review a beautiful Grobag from the Gro Company. We were sent the “Ziggy Pop Grobag” Gro Bag We were already a big fan of the Gro Company and especially love their Grobags and have used them with both Sydney and Ronnie. For those who are not familiar, a little background….

“…In 2000 The Gro Company began working with The Lullaby Trust (Formerly The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths, FSID), a leading baby charity working to prevent sudden infant deaths, promote baby health and support bereaved families. We started out wanting to create a safe alternative to sheets and blankets which met The Lullaby Trust’s guidelines and all UK safety regulations and British Standards. 10 years on we have a wonderful partnership with The Lullaby Trust, and are proud to have funded over £500,000 of their safe sleep research to date. ”

Gro Bag Ziggy Pop

We particularly loved the design of this one, the colours, turquoise, grey and lime were fresh and modern and complemented Ronnie’s nursery. The 2.5 tog baby sleeping bag is perfect for keeping Ronnie snuggely and warm in the winter months. We chose the largest size in this range, 18-36 months. The Ziggy pop is also available in sizes 0-6 and 6-18 months with the alternative being a 1.0 tog ideal for the summer months.

The feature that we liked was the way that it zipped around the edge with popper fastenings on the shoulders. It was easier to zip the bag up first then pop Ronnie in then secure the fastening on the shoulders. Ronnie can be such a wriggler especially with his new found skills of crawling and walking! Gro Bag   Ronnie has well and truly put this bag to the test we can without a doubt say that we think it is simply amazing!! We are safe in the knowledge that when Ronnie goes to sleep in his cot that we are without worry of sheets or blankets going over his face, he is not restricted and free to move around and he is at the right temperature. Sleep is so important and we think that the Grobag is an essential in safe baby sleeping and would highly recommend to every parent. From new baby through to toddler! A free nursery thermometer is included in 0-6 and 6-18 month sizes also user guide and safe sleep information.

Thank you Gro company for allowing us to have the pleasure in reviewing an ingenious design sleeping bag!   For more information and to view the full range of 2.5 tog baby sleeping bags go to the Grobag Store

Lillypots Weaning Pan Review

Lillypots… at little surprise!!!

lillypots pan

Here at Baby-a we were lucky enough to test Lillypots a new product to help with the weaning process. Lillypots is a pan with three compartments for heating frozen purées. We liked the look of the pan and were happy to be chosen for Ronnie to give us his verdict!

Lillypots was created by dad Tam Rodwell when …”Tam realised fairly quickly that there wasn’t any product on the market that could defrost and heat these tiny portions of food separately whilst not compromising the nutritional value and avoiding the use of plastics.”

With this in mind we set about using the pan. On first inspection we were surprised at how light and slim it was. There were three little indentations which reminded us of a poached egg pan! It fitted nicely over our sauce pan without any gaps or wobbling. We filled the pan as instructed with hot water from the kettle and put the Lillypot on top, popped on our frozen purées and let them warm through on the stove.

It was good to have the option to give Ronnie a mixture of veg and it didn’t seem too long for the food to heat… so much so that we used it without further boiling. With also having Sydney running about we found that filling the saucepan with boiled water from the kettle was enough, that way other food could be prepared and served for the the rest of the family without the risk of a boiling pan being left.

When comparing Sydney and Ronnie when weaning we found that Sydney took really well to puréed food, he used to open his mouth to most things and he was a really easy baby to wean. With Ronnie we have had a completely different experience. He quickly became bored with purées and constantly wanted to eat food out of his hands, it seemed like we had a baby led weaner. We gave him cooked veg and pieces of fruit to hold and he took to it really well.

Lillypots

We found that he loved egg and when thinking of different ways to serve it that is when the Lillypot came back into play . Thinking of poached eggs we managed to cook mini omelettes! \They were perfect for Ronnie as they were tasty and the right size for him to nibble on.

lillypot

We filled the saucepan with boiling water, popped on the Lillypot, put a little butter in then poured in a mixture of cheese and egg. We let the pan boil a little and in no time at all the mini omelettes were cooked. We scooped them out ,let them cool and served them to Ronnie. He was very excited and tucked in …they were at hit!

LILLYPOTS

The Lillypot certainly was a surprise for us ,with Ronnie giving up on purée we felt that we had come to the end of he road but it was nice to be able to use it for a different type of weaning with the perfect portion sizes.

Thank you Lillypots for letting us test your product. We think it is a marvelous idea and a great way to warm food for all of those hungry babies out there!

Kenny the Kangaroo Backpack Safety Harness & Reins Review

kangHere at baby-a we were sent a beautiful “Kenny the kangaroo” backpack safety harness and reins to test . Sydney was first in line to be chief tester. He excitedly opened the box and with an almighty awwww….he declared that he loved his new backpack a…..Squirrel!! We thought it was so funny that he thought it was a Squirrel but after lots of convincing, he now knows that it is indeed… a kangaroo!!!! Sydney already owns a backpack with reins which we have used none stop since the day he could walk and it has been amazing. With a new contender there was going to be a lot of comparisons and true opinions of the new “Kenny the Kangeroo” model. As we do not have a car, we walk everywhere or use public transport so Sydney’s current back pack has been invaluable in helping accomplish tasks of getting on and off buses and trains or simply walking whilst pushing the pram.

Kenny to the test Our first road test was getting the bus in to town. It takes a bit of juggling getting on a bus with a pram whilst trying to keep Sydney close and safe  so “Kenny” needed to be up to the job. Sydney was pleased as punch with his back pack as he could put his precious mr doggy in the front. Whilst standing at the bus stop his backpack was a talking point with onlookers admiring in. It felt a little different holding this backpack as the rein was very long and was attached at the bottom of the backpack. Sydney’s other back pack has a slightly shorter rein and it hooks on the top… as the bus pulled up everybody got on, leaving us to be the last to board… with a bus full, all eyes were on us… we successfully got on the bus but as I let go of Sydney’s rein to pay the bus driver I could hear a chorus of old ladies saying to Sydney… ”your standing on his tail.”. with that l looked up to find Sydney circling round to try and catch his “tail” and old ladies laughing at him. They thought it was great and Sydney loved the attention but it did strike me that this may be a potential hazard…nevertheless we carried on our journey to town. Kangaroo Safety Harness As Sydney is a little older now we tend to keep him on a tight rein near roads but in pedestrian areas and in certain shops we have tried to give him a little more freedom. As always we try and keep a journey to town short and sweet but in the bargain Sydney likes to visit his favourite toy shops. On this occasion, as usual Sydney marched Ronnie and I straight to his shop and as usual I let him free to look at toys at his leisure but again without thinking… I let go of him then realised his reins were trailing, consequently Sydney got caught up in it again. I had to remind myself to tuck in his rein before letting him loose…with that in mind we got on well with Kenny. Sydney thought he was great and kept looking at himself in shop windows. In conclusion Sydney absolutely loves wearing Kenny and we have all taken to him as he is a beautiful backpack, which is really well made and put together. The fabric and fastenings are of real good quality and they feel secure once fastened. The only thing that I personally would change with this design is the attachment of the rein, whilst it looks good on the bottom I feel that it would be safer on the top. That being said we will continue to use Kenny as we think he is great and we are very grateful for having the opportunity to test him out. Many thanks to Pipsy Koala for letting us test drive Kenny!!!

Organic Babies Soothing Baby Oil – Scent Free

oiloilbox

Here at baby -a we are big fans of natural, organic products and  Green People never fail in producing beautiful products. We have been lucky enough to have had the pleasure in sampling some of their products in the past and the latest product we have been testing is their Organic babies soothing baby oil.

We have been using it on Ronnie for a couple of months and we can honestly say that it has been lovely to use. Ronnie has enjoyed a massage with the oil after his bath, resulting in a relaxed baby ready for bed! There is no harsh overpowering smell that some oils may give off -as it is scent free and it glides over the skin, reinforcing the fact that there are no nasties. We especially like the pump action bottle as it dispenses the baby oil seamlessly without the risk of spillages or mess.

The baby oil is good for babies with sensitive skin and was great for soothing Ronnie’s dry scalp, it really helped prevent cradle cap from developing.ronsleep

“ORGANIC EVENING PRIMROSE, ROSEHIP, ELDERFLOWER & POMEGRANATE SEED OILS
A beautiful blend of natural oils to gently nourish and embrace the purity of your baby’s skin.
This fragrance-free baby oil softens and soothes babies with very sensitive skin
May also be suitable for those prone to eczema and psoriasis” ( greenpeople.co.uk)

This oil is something we will be purchasing in the future and it definitely gets the baby-a seal of approval.

Thank you to the Green People for giving us the opportunity again to sample another part your amazing range!!

Snugglebundl Review

snugWe were very fortunate to be able to test and review a really ingenious product to help parents with their new babies.

Snugglebundl proudly present the world’s first baby lifting wrap blanket. This beautiful multi-award winning baby product has so many incredible uses. The soft, strong handles on this wearable hooded blanket let you lift and lay your baby so gently that they’ll stay sleeping; even lifting babies in and out of car seats, prams and pushchairs without waking them is so easy. Snugglebundl is amazing help for lifting baby after c section and can really help post birth recovery time too.

Ronnie is six weeks old now and we have used the Snugglebundl from the day he was born in hospital. It has been in and out of the wash and has been used every day.

It was so lovely dressing Ronnie for the first time and placing him into a very cosy, secure blanket. It was great for transferring Ronnie to the car seat for his first journey home. One of the features that we particularly liked was the padded head support which really seemed to comfort him.snugcar

We have used the Snugglebundl non stop for different purposes. It has been particularly useful in his pram where he has been sleeping soundly. It has been great for breast feeding when out and about as it aids comfort and discretion. On one occasion Sydney gave the game away by asking nice and loud… “Is Ronnie feeding from your boobie mummy?”… So my cover was well and truly blown!!

We have gained experience in knowing  that when it comes to looking after babies that there are certain ‘must have’ items and others that you buy but don’t actually use. For us (especially mummy) we feel that it falls in to a ‘must have’ item and we can’t recommend it highly enough.

The new challenge for us at present is getting to grips with looking after two children with very different needs. For days when mummy or daddy are alone with the little ones and juggling their demands, the Snugglebundl has really helped. For instance  we can’t take our eyes off Sydney at the moment as he can be quite rough with Ronnie. For all that he loves him he can’t be trusted, as the minute our backs are turned he tries to pick Ronnie up or pat him on the head or poke him in the eyes etc(Poor Ronnie!!!!)… for those reasons we keep the pram up, have a bouncer chair and have the car seat in different areas of the house and the Snugglebundl has been great for transferring Ronnie without disturbing him. It also gives a little extra protection from a sticky boisterous three year old’s hands!

snugliftLife is a little crazy and it is certainly going by in a blink, so to have a small product that does a lot makes a big difference. We feel that anything helps make life easier when caring for children is a Baby-A winner!!!

Thank you Snugglbundl for introducing us to a blanket that we couldn’t be without!

Duvet and Pillow Warehouse Goose Down Duvet Review

As long as you are comfortable!

duvet feetHere at Baby-a we have had such a busy time, moving house and having our second child. In the mix of things we were so happy to receive a beautiful goose down duvet to test. Sleep to us is precious at the moment, especially with a newborn. Having a comfortable, luxury duvet makes a big difference for when we do get some rest.

We received a New White Goose Down Duvet 13.5 Tog to review. The delivery was very prompt and communication from The Duvet and Pillow Warehouse was excellent. The Duvet came well wrapped and contained in a bag that can be reused for storage.

The Duvet and Pillow Warehouse description ; “…with 80% new white goose down and 20% feather. The feather adds a little bit of bulk and weight, making a snugger duvet with a more definitive drape. They’re cased in 100% cotton (with a 233 thread count) for a really luxurious finishing touch.”

The goose down duvet is beautiful. It has definitely given our bed a new lease of life and a new level of comfort, we sleep very soundly. There is a real luxury to this after years of using the standard duvets this feels amazing in comparison.

Snug as a bug!

Snug as a bug!

The duvet has been tested by all of the family, as most mornings we all end up under it! Sydney has been loving his morning cuddles with mummy, daddy and his four week old baby brother Ronnie, there has been smiles all round in our household.

We would definitely recommend this as it is such good quality and is beautifully made. The Duvet and Pillow Warehouse were great to deal with and we thank them for giving Baby-a the opportunity to put their product to the test! We all will been lovely, snuggly and warm now that summer has gone and autumn is upon us!

Plum Baby Little Foodies Review

Baby Plum!!

Baby Plum!!

Sydney was a big fan of Plum Organics back in his baby weaning days. The little pouches were a life saver when we were out and about. He was always quite happy to eat them cold which made things so much easier.

We were really happy to be given the chance to review Plum’s new range of ‘Little Foodies’ toddler meals and we were looking forward to seeing what Sydney thought of them now he had an older, more experienced food palette!

Plum promote the little foodies meals as being…

“Our Little Foodies meals are full of exciting flavours, and are carefully crafted to encourage little ones to love their food. They come in convenient, easy-to-serve dishes to encourage toddlers to feed themselves, and the chunky texture (including chewy bits like whole raisins and peas) will help them develop the jaw and tongue muscles they need for language development.” (plum-babyco.uk)

We were sent four meals to try

Jamaican Jerk Mango & Chicken with Wholegrain Ricelittle3

Moroccan Lamb Tagine with Apricots & Bulgur Wheat,

Italian Ragu with Tomato, Beef and Ditalini Pasta

Vegetable Biryani with Wholegrain Rice

Sydney had a lot of eating and tasting to do and with all of  the wonderful tasting flavours to experience… what did he think..?

The first meal he picked to try was the Jamaican Jerk Mango & Chicken with Wholegrain Rice, on opening it , it did seem quite mushy so we were unsure as to whether Sydney would go through with eating it. He did his usual trick of smelling it first then proceeded with a large mouthful, eyebrows raised he carried on eating. He only left a little bit but he thoroughly enjoyed it.

As the week went on, he was excited to pick his meals. The Ragu was a hit he really enjoyed it and it was good to have different texturesliitle1little and flavours. The Biryani and Lamb Tagine both were greeted with enthusiasm but he was a little put off by the chick peas, they were a little hard and he kept spitting them out. I picked some out and mashed the others and this seemed to help.

In conclusion we feel that Plum still have that great attention to detail in putting interesting and appealing ingredients together that work. Sydney enjoyed them, however we just wish they had been out for when Sydney was a little younger, as being nearly three years old he is borderline too old for them.

Nevertheless we have a baby due next month so they will be definitely something that we would buy in the future.

Thank you Plum organics for providing Sydney with a tasty set of meals.
